1950's swing-back to sexiness

As gorgeous as 50's inspired apparel is, and as in-love with it as designers currently are, it's not the easiest look to carry off without looking like you've either raided your grandmother’s closet, vintage boutiques or the on-line store Etsy.

There are pieces within this seasons 1950's inspired collections that you should absolutely be taking advantage of! For example the waist clenching dresses and skirts that shape and define our bodies into luscious hour-glasses. The pencil skirts that do wonders for creating a sensationally sexy shape, and just as flattering are halter neck tops.

However when it comes to the bandeau necklines, the below the knee skirts and the twinsets, all I will say is be weary of exactly how these fit - not only your body, but also the social occasion!
Too much of this trend will have you looking like your either going to a dress-up-party or a swing-dancing class.

The one thing that this trend does have going for it, no matter how you style it together, is it's unique grasp on what it 'sexy'.
In the case of the 1950's fashionizing, sexy is more about a shape that is created WITH clothes as apposed to what is revealed WITHOUT them.
More is more and covered is not as conservative as you may think!

Designers like Marc Jacobs and Miuccia Prada are presenting this season, a look back into what made the trends of the 1950's as ravishing as they were.

Full circle skirts lend to a distinctive feminine flair while cropped pants and high buttoned up blouses appeal to a more sophisticated and understated side of sexy.
The structure and modern prints of these garments make up for the lack of skin shown via molding ones figure into perfection and maintaining a current 2012's vibe with prints that are unmistakable contemporary.

A bold red lip, is a classic 1950's colour and also one that will make you unstoppable while keeping your dignity intact - perhaps this seasons best accessory!

If your looking to encourage such a style (whether as a sales assistant, a buyer, or a best friend) start by emphasizing the 50's assets - the waist defining dresses and bust enhancing (halterneck) necklines - note that the full circle skirt will also make your legs appear amazingly pin-like and long under such billowing folds of material.

Don't be afraid to mention some of the 50's style icons in the same sentence either - Bettie Page, Marylin Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Doris Day... the unforgettable glamor stars will no doubt conjure up images of silver-screen starlets and the wardrobes that matched as apposed to frumpy old-fashioned, yesteryear apparel.

This season, the 50's is used as a highlight of sensuality and a womans' curvacious body - think the modern day style icon Kim Kardashian and you'll be on track in terms of exactly how to pull this look off!
