Exports of Spanish footwear to Japan grew by 47% in volume and 34% in value in the first ten months of 2011. This is the backdrop to the latest edition of “Shoes for Spain” where twelve Spanish shoe manufacturers will present their collection for 2012/2013 for the Japanese market.
This is the sixth consecutive year of this show and it is organized by the Spanish Footwear Federation (FICE) with the support of the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX) and will take place on the 1st and 2nd February in Tokyo.
At last year’s edition more than 600 visitors attended the exhibition which “illustrates the commitment of the footwear industry to this important market, both in terms of profitability as well as potential consumer demand”, stated FICE.
The brands on show are Anaid Kupuri, Art-Neosens, Cowa, GMD, Is to me, Kanna, Lorena Carreras, Menbur, Mikaela, Pertini-Cordwainer, Pons Quintana and Sacha London. Half of the brands present come from the Valencia area of Spain.
In the ten moth period under review of 2011 the Japanese market has become the twelfth largest buyer of Spanish footwear at global level in value terms and the Number One in Asia, with exports which reached some €27.1 million, or one million pairs.
