Brazil: CICB Sustainability Forum

The newest trends, technologies and examples of sustainable practices for the leather industry will be discussed at the 1st CICB Sustainability Forum which will be held on 29th August 2012, at Fenac, in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil, during the Courovisão Fair (International Fair of Components, Leather, Chemicals, Equipment and Accessories for Footwear and Manufactured Goods). This activity will bring together some of the most outstanding Brazilian environmental specialists responsible for the development of the leather production chain.

The 1st CICB Sustainability Forum is organized by the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB), the official Brazilian entity that, for the past 55 years, has been defending and promoting Brazilian leather in the domestic and international markets.

A whole day of activities is planned for the Forum. The draft program includes speeches, debates and questions from the audience. Over 300 people are expected to see the trends and actions that have generated positive results in reducing the environmental impact in the leather chain. The Forum will also show good examples of improvement ins made in the economics of chemical and tanning companies.

Information concerning registrations will be released soon. The 1st CICB Sustainability Forum is co-organized by the Tannery Industries Association of Rio Grande do Sul (AICSul) and Brazilian Association of Companies of Components for Leather, Footwear and Manufactured Goods (Assintecal). The partners of this event are Fenac - Business and Events Centre and Brazilian Association of Chemical Technicians for the Leather Industry (Abqtic). Portuguese is the official language of the Forum.

The Topics of the Forum will be:
Traceability of cattle:  a tool for environment protection
Water management: sustainable practices
New cycles for chromed leather solid residues
Environment policies: laws, trade boundaries, standards and reports
New Technologies as the main sources for industrial improvements
Fashion and sustainability
