Sustainability: Custo Barcelona presents eco-sustainable store

by FNA posted on 12 Jul 2012

Eco-sustainable store

Custo Barcelona has opened up a new store in the La Maquinista shopping mall in Barcelona itself with the aim of introducing a new interior design philosophy to its stores where recycling, restoration and durability are dominant.

The 300 square meter area is decorated with recyclable materials such as wood, steel or antique wooden crates that can be used over and over again. These elements are durable and non-contaminating as well as being decorative and allow for a fast setting up of the store and are easy to acquire. The lamps that illuminate the establishment are made from boiler tubes with lights that have two positions - one for the daytime and another for the night. The bulbs have a life span of 25 years!

The new store is part of the Custo Gallery Project which is located in the famous Ramblas in Barcelona and where the walls are used as a gallery for the brand and where original graphics are shown from the 30,000 which have been employed during the complete history of Custo Barcelona.

This new store concept which is also part of the expansion of the company worldwide is based on the idea of “shrink to grow”. It is a concept of solidarity which is conscious of savings and which “seeks to reach beauty through imperfections”.
