Egypt: New Egypt government places strict limits footwear imports

by FNA posted on 27 Jul 2012

Mohamed Mursi - Egypt's President

Egypt has introduced new rules for the import of footwear. The new government has toughened up regulations demanding that products undergo more tests and have more certification.

The new norms specify that imported articles undergo tests and comply with standards related to thickness, hardness, PH, resistance to flexing, resistance to tearing, adhesive strength, permeability to water vapor and shoe sizes.

The labels will also have to specify the name of the manufacturer, the brand, the size and the country of origin.
