Leather is the material of the moment in the northern hemisphere

Finishing effects in leather apparel

International fashion shows illustrate that one of the most popular materials used by stylists and designers is leather. Finishes and different effects are noticeable due to the varying patterns on offer. And it looks as if the winter 2013 season will be reserved for women’s leather fashion.

Leather can be found in complete collections or at least in details that are the highlight of the article. Skirts, jackets, dresses, blouses and pants are just some of the possibilities seen on the catwalks in Milan, Paris, New York and London.

TEXTURES – Exotic textures or even less evident embroidery can be seen in clothing and its details. Crocodile or snake make up some of the most fashionable details perhaps due to their fashion fame in earlier collections as well as for their exclusivity.

FINISHES – Exotics go down very well especially when highlighting details. They lend more value to the piece and give more personality to the creation. Some designers invest in suede type finishes and they can even be very artisan. Leather with a smooth finish is also in evidence giving life to more traditional pieces of apparel which are offered by many stylists. Such supple leather used for making dresses or pants suggest an extremely soft and comfortable look.

GRAPHICS – Patterns embossed into the leather will be some of the most usual designs used for the upcoming winter collections. Some brands use such graphic designs so that they created a sort of body armor; a different form of leather which lends the article much more aesthetic value.

COLORS – The color palette for winter 2013 includes colors such as black, matt, red, blue, green and some shades of violet. A varnished finish continues to be a good option for a more varied finish and makes the item really stand out from the crowd.
