China: More brands look for green leather

Nearly one hundred leading Chinese footwear and accessories brands have called for the making of more environmentally friendly leather goods using eco-leather.

Aiming to build a complete green supply the leather sector, Belle, Aokang and Kangnai, which appeared at a press conference announcing the leading brands of the China Leather Industry Association’s GLM (Genuine Leather Mark) that took place in Beijing on April 26.

  “It needs concerted efforts from the whole industry to build a green production line using eco-leather to maintain sustainable growth in the industry, we need to take more action to achieve this goal,” said CLIA President, Su Chaoying. Leather made by 45 tanneries that have acquired certification of eco-leather in China should become the first choice to buy as they meet international standards.
