South America: Argentina relents on Brazilian shoe imports

by FNA posted on 13 Jul 2012

Argentina and Brazil have now reached agreement to allow more than 680,000 pairs in volume, to move from Brazil to its southern neighbour as almost $18 million worth of footwear blocked on the border because of a trade dispute.

This leaves around 850,000 pairs in the blockade. Argentina is concerned about its trade deficit with Brazil, which amounted to $1.5 billion in the first half of 2012.
