The 8th edition of the annual Prime Source Forum (PSF) was held in Hong Kong from March 25 to 27, which included a half-day sustainability conference, a two-day-forum and provided also an ideal platform for launching the International Oeko-Tex Association’s new STeP certification system for sustainable textile production. STeP offers production facilities the possibility of a modular analysis of all relevant company areas including quality management, use of chemicals, environmental protection, environmental management, social responsibility and health as well as safety. The decision to launch STeP at this event has again underlined the importance of PSF – The annual forum for the global fashion industry.

The ICT has unanimously confirmed Wolfgang Goerlich of Brazil as its president for a second consecutive term of two years. Rino Mastrotto, current president of COTANCE, was named ICT vice president. The appointments were made during the recent APLF fair held in Hong Kong at the end of March.
Dr Beate Haaser of Sud Leder presented the background and initial results of their new €5-6 million investment to around 150 delegates attending the 2-day conference in Sinsheim. She said that their estimates show that up to 10,000 tons of CO2 per annum can be saved with the introduction of the new technology.
