The leaders of COTANCE, the leather industry’s representative body in the European Union, met on April 3 in Bologna under the chairmanship of president, Rino Mastrotto.
The 18th Session of the UNIDO Leather Panel (Shanghai, 1-5 September 2012) addressed the important issue of the LCA methodologies that should allow the leather industry to get a fair and accurate calculation of the carbon/water footprint of Leather. A Technical Report on this topic was tabled by UNIDO for getting the feedback from the Leather Panel and finalising the work.
The international news site Leatherbiz.com has reported that COTANCE, the representative body of the tanning industry to the European Commission, has agreed a deal to make the national leather industry associations it represents members of the International Council of Tanners (ICT).
