From 13th – 16th November 2013 UITIC will hold its 18th International Footwear Congress in Guangzhou. The congress is an official event of UITIC, International Union of Shoe Industry Technicians, and is a great platform for shoe industry technicians to meet and discuss the current trends and future in footwear.

The Italian Federico Brugnoli will address one of the themes in greater prominence in the worldwide sustainability sphere during the 2nd CICB Sustainability Forum. Federico, who is an expert in Sustainability, Life Cycle Assessment and Leather Performance Management is confirmed for the panel Technical Barriers: Certification, Legislation, Rules and Procedures. The event takes place from 1.30pm to 6pm, at Fenac's Exhibition Venue, during the next Courovisão (International Fair of Components, Leather, Chemicals, Equipment and Accessories for Footwear and Manufactured Goods), with organization of the Centre for the Brazilian Tannery Industry (CICB).

The Global Leather Coordinating Committee (GLCC) met during the recent APLF trade fair in Hong Kong to continue discussions on collaborative projects in the leather industry. To ensure continued alignment of the group with critical strategic needs a brainstorming session was held to identify perceived major Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats of importance to the industry.

The congress was organized by the Turkish Leather Technologists Association, Detek under the leadership of IULTCS President, Dr Volkan Candar. Dr Candar handed over the Presidency to Dr Patricia Casey from Argentina for the next congress in Brazil at the end of 32nd conference on May 31.

The 2nd CICB Sustainability Forum will be held on August 28th from 0130pm – 0600pm during the 13th Courovisão Show at the Fenac Exhibition Venue in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
