An invitation issued with no consultation by a civil servant of the city of León for a Chinese tannery to set up there has sparked a sharp reaction in the sector. The president of the Chamber of the Tanning Industry (CICUR), Ricardo Gallardo, highlighted the incongruence of this situation in the light of the shortage of available hides for tanning which is facing the whole sector.
