South Cape Ostrich Tanning (SCOT), a vibrant tanning company in the Southern Cape, was established in 1999 as part of the Mosstrich group. Mosstrich, in turn, was established in 1996 with the vertical integration of the ostrich industry in this region. SCOT obtains its raw materials from Mosstrich as well as independant producers, as the market requires. The company produces in excess of 50 000 ostrich skins per annum in full aniline (saddle finish) in a variety of colours consistent with fashion industry demand. SCOT has established itself as one of the leading ostrich leather producing tanneries since it commenced with operations in May 2000. The quality of ostrich leather produced by SCOT is widely accepted by the manufacturers of exclusive leather items.
